Em canarios belgas, nao ha dismorfismo sexual (diferenca aparente entre machos e femeas).
- Machos: cantam. Femeas: nao cantam. Algumas arrulham (emitem som diverso do canto), mas nao chegam a fazer melodias como os machos. Desconheco algum caso de femea que cante como macho.
- Ha quem consiga identificar o sexo pelo aspecto da cloaca (muitas vezes as diferencas nao sao tao nitidas):

Nos canarios de linha escura (mosaico), as femeas apresentam um manto mais marrom.

Em relacao ao comportamento, criadores consideram machos em geral mais agressivos, embora haja femeas muito agressivas tambem, nao e' um criterio seguro.
